The Pre-Selection Committee of the IFF Etnofilm Čadca 2020 assessed 110 submitted films from 36 countries worldwide and decided that 35 films are entering the main international competition – a list of which is given in the table.
The festival organizers considered all the risks of conducting the film screenings in the traditional way at the House of Culture in Čadca with the participation of audience. Due to the new strict hygienic measures adopted recently in the Kysuce region to stop spreading Covid-19, the decision was taken to make the 21st biennial exceptionally online: the international jury will judge the films in the main competition and decide on the awards in accordance with the Statutes. The awards will be announced on October 22, 2020 in Čadca, details will be given via website. The awards will be sent to the filmmakers by delivery-service.
Screenings of the awarded films will take place during 2021 within the Etnofilm Tour in selected Slovak cities. Our aim is to maintain the Etnofilm brand even in this challenging period, when we have found ourselves in a new, unpredictable situation due to Covid-19 pandemic.
